Limited Edition Remake of our 1979 Mk III Military Watch with 100m Water Resistance, 24 Jewel Automatic Movement and Sapphire Crystal

SKU Code: MKIII/79/SS/AU

This Limited Edition MKIII variant in stainless steel features the same dial pattern as a model MWC made in 1979. All MKIII automatic models are recreations of the classic 1950s NATO specification watches, originally made under the UK Ministry of Defence reference 6B/346 Mk XI. This particular model is a recreation of a MKIII variant last sold in 1979. While it maintains the vintage style of the 1950s, it incorporates modern technology for greatly improved accuracy, utilizing a modern 24-jewel NH35 automatic movement with up to a 41-hour power reserve and hacking function, plus a shatter and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal.

Due to budget constraints, modern military forces can no longer afford watches of this quality, opting for cheaper models that meet their needs. Historically, forces worldwide purchased watches from brands like Rolex, IWC, Omega, and Longines. Those days are gone, but many still desire a military pattern watch with higher specifications. The MKIII models fulfill this need without sparing any expense, from the high-performance movement to the brushed stainless steel 1950s/60s design case, manufactured and hand-finished in Zurich. The model also features an upgraded scratch and shatter-resistant sapphire crystal with a non-reflective coating.

The watch boasts a screw caseback and screw-down crown, making it highly accurate, robust, and water-resistant up to 100m (330ft).

Specifications:

  • Diameter: 39 mm (excluding crown), 42.5 mm (including crown)
  • Lug to Lug: 46.5 mm
  • Water Resistance: 100 m / 330 ft
  • Luminous Material: Luminova
  • Movement: 24 Jewel, 21,600 bph Automatic NH35 Movement
  • Power Reserve: 41 Hours
  • Crown: Screw-down
  • Caseback: Screw-down
  • Crystal: Shatter and Scratch Resistant Sapphire Crystal
  • Thickness: 11.3 mm
  • Weight: 73 g
  • Strap: 20 mm NATO (1 x Black and 1 x Grey)

Benefits of Sapphire Crystal:

Many people ask about the benefits of sapphire crystal over standard mineral crystal. Synthetic sapphire is the best material for watch crystals due to its strength and resistance to shattering and scratching. These characteristics make it highly appealing to military and security personnel, police officers, and people who lead active outdoor lifestyles, who comprise over 70% of our customers.

When clients have accidents resulting in cracked crystals, over 90% of the cases involve watches with mineral glass crystals, even though we use hardened mineral crystals. Sapphire crystals are heat-treated to remove internal stresses, enhancing their strength. They also feature two layers of anti-reflective coating. Interestingly, sapphire crystal is now used in the latest iPhone models. Although sapphire crystal comes at a higher cost, it is typically found in higher-end watches due to its superior durability.
