General Service Military Pocket Watch (24 Jewel Automatic with Option to Hand Wind if Preferred)

SKU: PW/E2/BD

Military pocket watches — along with their civilian counterparts — are enjoying a significant resurgence in popularity. Historically, these timepieces were used for both land-based and naval operations, and during WWII, they became particularly favoured by RAF and USAAF navigators and bomb aimers (US: bombardiers).

Aircrews found it more practical to place a pocket watch on a chart table, workbench, or in the nose of the aircraft while working or approaching a target. At the time, wristwatches averaged just 32 mm in diameter, making these larger 47–50 mm pocket watches far easier to read in challenging conditions.

We offer several variants of this model to meet different operational and collector requirements.

This particular version features a 24-jewel automatic movement with a 41-hour power reserve, plus hand-winding capability and a hacking function for precise synchronization or conserving power when not in use.
