The MWC Kampfschwimmer (Military Diver) range represents MWC’s most robust line of professional dive watches. Designed for demanding military and police operations, these watches feature a significantly heavier-duty case than standard military divers, enhanced crown protection, a scratch-resistant ceramic bezel, and an impact-resistant sapphire crystal.

A wider 24mm strap, rather than the usual 20mm, combined with a thicker, deeply grooved bezel provides superior grip. This configuration was specified in procurement contracts for police and military divers, including those operating in cold, wet, and extreme environments such as inflatable craft and offshore deployments.

Model Overview

This model was first introduced in January 2019 and features a European NATO-pattern dial, finished in brushed stainless steel. It is fitted with solid strap bars, a feature often required for military and tactical use where maximum strap security is essential.

This model is identical to the XLD/AU/12/SSPVB variant, with the exception of the solid strap bars.

Why Sapphire Crystal

Synthetic sapphire is widely regarded as the best material for watch crystals due to its exceptional resistance to scratching and shattering. These qualities are highly valued by military personnel, police officers, and customers with active outdoor lifestyles, who account for over 70 percent of our customer base.

To put this into perspective, over 90 percent of cracked watch crystals occur on watches fitted with mineral glass, even when hardened. Sapphire crystals are heat-treated to eliminate internal stresses and then coated with dual layers of anti-reflective coating, further enhancing durability and legibility. While more expensive, sapphire is typically reserved for higher-end watches and is also used in the latest smartphones.
